CALDERON-FOLCH Arquitectes has been involved in many academic activities above all as co-ordinators and originators of university-level courses. Under the title “Theme, Story, Plot and Space”, Calderon-Folch originated and directed the exhibition design workshop of the Master in Design and Exhibition Project Management held jointly by the Elisava School of Design and the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona. This workshop had as its objective constructing the relationship between narrative structure and space in order to generate new expositive formats. Under the macro-title “Systems”, Calderon-Folch originated, developed and coordinated the academic curriculum for the second-year-students of architecture at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in which all course subjects worked in conjunction with the goal of fostering the creative process within each individual student. To this end, pure actions (closing-isolating-covering-surrounding-containing-crossing) are treated as interconnected parts of a single program allowing the student to carry compositional, structural, and constructive formulations to their logical limits in distinct urban contexts in the periphery of Barcelona.
